Make up for your Maternity Photography with Kirkland artist Amanda
This months blog is a chance to meet a fantatstic make up artist, who I have had the pleasure of working with on many sessions. Mom Make up by Amanda is based in Kirkland and I caught up with her at the beach for a short Q & A.
Why did you choose to become a make up artist?
My friends would come to me for makeup advice and I would do their makeup for fun. It made me so happy to see the look on their faces when they felt beautiful. A little makeup can make you feel like you are a person, especially if you're a mom. We as moms tend to lose ourselves. I wanted to help moms feel like they can be someone other than just "mom." So that's when I knew I wanted to be a makeup artist. Not just any makeup artist, but a mom makeup artist.
What one product couldn't you live without?
Mascara! It's the one item you can use on its own that can make you look a little more awake.
Whats your favorite part of the job?
I love it when they're finally able to look at themselves in the mirror. Seeing the look on my clients face is my favorite part.
What tips/tricks would help busy moms?
Always wash your face in the morning and night. It'll make your face clearer so you won't have to wear much makeup.
Spend at least 5 minutes a day on you. I do my makeup when my kids are eating breakfast.
Don't feel like you have to have tons of makeup. Mascara, blush, and a little lip color can make all the difference.
If you have the dreaded under eye circles, and want to get rid of them, find a color corrector. Peach hides dark circles. Oranges hides dark circles on darker skin. Pink hides dark circles and brightens. Yellow hides purple/blue.
